While fully inheriting the philosophy and aesthetic integrity of the TYPE-R Single, this dual exhaust configuration was re-envisioned to suit the RV37 platform as a modern sports sedan.
The result is a carefully reconstructed solution that brings together strength and balance, presence and refinement—creating a new form of identity that stands alongside the single, not against it.

INFINITI Q50 — A Modern Global Sports Sedan
The INFINITI Q50 represents the evolution of Nissan’s long-standing sports sedan philosophy for the global market.
Known as the Skyline in Japan and the INFINITI Q50 overseas, both share the same RV37 platform—developed as true sibling models with a common engineering foundation.
While the name and branding differ by market, the core philosophy remains unchanged: a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports sedan built to deliver genuine driving enjoyment.
In an era where such layouts are becoming increasingly rare, the Q50 stands as one of the last remaining V6 FR sedans available today.
The V6 Legacy of the RV37 Platform
Throughout its lifecycle, the RV37 platform has offered multiple V6 powertrain options, each with a distinct character.
Early North American Q50 models were equipped with the naturally aspirated VQ37VHR, celebrated for its smooth high-revving nature and immediate throttle response—qualities that define the classic VQ series.
Later, the introduction of the VR30DDTT, a 3.0L V6 twin-turbo engine, brought a more modern approach.
Rather than replacing the VQ’s character, it offered a different interpretation of V6 performance—strong low-end torque, effortless acceleration, and refined drivability in everyday conditions.
High-revving naturally aspirated response or turbocharged torque and flexibility—RV37 allows drivers to choose the V6 personality that best fits their driving style.
This diversity is a defining strength of the platform.
Today, vehicles such as the INFINITI Q50 Red Sport 400 continue to carry the V6 FR torch forward.
Combined with strong base performance and increasingly accessible market pricing, the RV37 has become a highly realistic and appealing tuning platform—one whose value may not remain undervalued forever.
Why TOMEI Chose the RV37
At TOMEI, we see the INFINITI Q50 / SKYLINE (RV37) as a rare opportunity.
Beyond engine variants or regional naming, it is a platform that allows drivers to truly build and refine their car—an experience that is becoming increasingly uncommon in modern automotive design.
Our goal was simple: to extract the inherent potential of the RV37 through exhaust engineering that respects the car’s balance, character, and driving feel.
That philosophy led us to develop a full titanium exhaust system specifically for this platform.
The Art of Single — TYPE-R Full Titanium Muffler
In 2021, TOMEI introduced the TYPE-R Full Titanium Muffler for the RV37 platform under the concept
“The Art of Single.”
Rather than chasing visual impact or excessive volume, the TYPE-R was developed with a clear priority on performance.
A straight-through design with an 89.1mm main pipe and a carefully optimized exhaust path allows the engine’s natural pulse and revving character to be fully expressed.
The result was unmistakable.
The TYPE-R became one of the most successful exhaust systems in TOMEI’s history, with thousands of units sold worldwide.
Historically, the Skyline lineage favored single-exit exhaust layouts, emphasizing lightweight performance and mechanical efficiency.
TYPE-R stays true to that heritage—delivering exceptional responsiveness and reduced mass through a pure single-exit design that continues to earn the trust of enthusiasts around the world.
TYPE-D — Redefining Dual Exhaust Performance
After extensive prototyping and rigorous testing, the TYPE-D Dual Full Titanium Exhaust System was completed.
At its core lies the same philosophy that defines TOMEI: Function over Form.

Sound, Philosophy, and Material — The Answer Chosen by TYPE-D
The sound produced by TYPE-D is what we call the Force of Titanium Note.
At idle, it delivers a calm, controlled low-frequency tone.
Under throttle, a dry and crisp mid-range emerges, transitioning seamlessly into a sharp, clean high-end note at higher RPMs—true to the V6 character.
This is not a system designed around volume or aggression alone. It is tuned as an instrument, engineered to respond naturally to engine speed, throttle input, and driver intent.
While stainless steel remains a practical and effective material, TOMEI chose titanium for this project for a clear reason. Reduced mass improves overall vehicle balance, sharpens response, and enhances the sense of lightness that drivers can feel behind the wheel.
After fully engaging with the RV37 platform, titanium proved to be the most honest and natural solution—one that allows the inherent quality of the INFINITI Q50 / SKYLINE (RV37) to shine through without excess.
