At 1.6s/cm2 (22.8psi) of boost, the ARMS M7760 is capable of 380PS, the M7960 is capable of 400PS and the M8265, the largest one is capable of 450PS. The stock engine first weak point is the head gasket. So at the very least, the upgrade of the head gasket to the metal type is highly recommend. So with the upgrade of the head gasket to the metal type, and the rest of the engine remains stock. The limit then will be 350PS with either the M7760 or M7960. The above figures is with 1.4`1.5s/cm2 (19.9~21.3psi) of boost. When Forged Pistons and H-Beam Connecting rods, you can then run up to 1.6s/cm2 (22.8psi) of boost. But again that depends on the cars setup and condition. Boost should only be set when in 4th or 5th gear. As when it is changed whilst in lower gear, the higher load in lower gear will result in the wrong boost settings. (Itfs not unusual to see on some occasions when the rpm reaches its peak and the boost drops).

The actuator has been pre-set at our factory, so there is no need for any additional adjustments. But it is best to have a boost controller installed to make the required adjustments on the day when driving conditions demand certain performance conditions.

With the stock motor, the head gasket is the weakest point. So by upgrading the head gasket to a metal type, with {boost settings @ 1.4`1.5s/cm2 (19.9`21.3psi)} 350PS is then the standard limit of the normal engine. When the boost setting target is 1.6s/cm², we then highly recommend to upgrade the pistons to Forged Pistons.

The larger Turbos are designed to suit those who are running larger displacement EJ engines of 2.2L and higher. Since these larger engines demand more from the Turbos, as they have more potential. The larger Turbos are best suited for them.

The stock pistons limit is up to 350PS. Forged Pistons are required from this power level and higher. When running either M7760, M7960 & M8265 Turbos at 1.6s/cm2 (22.8psi) of boost, the combustion pressure will be significantly higher which can quickly lead to pre-ignition which can quickly melt or burn the pistons. This is when the stock pistons will soon reach their limit. So high boost applications will require a Metal Head Gasket to be used with Forged Pistons.

The stock connecting rods are one of the weak points of the EJ engine. When aiming for more than 350PS, then it is highly recommended to upgrade the connecting rods.

The stock camshafts are inadequate to obtain sufficient exhaust pressure when using larger Turbos. So camshafts become a vital part of the engine tuning process. It helps change the engines characteristics to help utilize the larger Turbos potential.

The stock EJ head gasket is a metal type gasket. But during high boost applications, the higher combustion pressures are then unsafe. There is still room for improvement to increase sealing properties. By upgrading the head gasket, you can then stabilize surface pressures. Chose the right gasket thickness to suit your desired compression ratio.

To work out the injector sizes you need you use this formula,
Target Horsepower x 5.9 No. of Cylinders = the cc flow amount per cylinder required.
Take into account that you will run up to 80%~90% of the injectorfs capacity.

To work out the fuel pump size you need you use this formula,
Injectors Capacity x No. of Cylinders x 0.06 = Fuel Pump flow rate required. Then consider that the fuel pump should be used at 80~90% capacity when making your choice.

Changing the fuel pump will require you to adjust the fuel pressure with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to suit the new setup. You will need to set it at 3k when idling without the vacuum hose being connected.

When running higher boost, the stock suction pipe at times can deform under high pressure conditions, this hinders intake efficiency. With the use of a hard pipe type, it then resolves the problem and increase performance gains.

Pressurized air from the Turbine is compressed and sent to the engine. This process forces the air temperature to increase with heat. So when it does, the air density drops and combustion efficiency becomes poor, resulting to performance loss. The intercoolers job is then to extract the heat from the forced air via the fins in the intercooler. This again helps compress the air again, and the denser colder air will improve combustion efficiency to optimize performance.

When the throttle is suddenly closed, the forced air from the Turbine will have no where to go. This restricted flow places a heavy burden on the turbo and other parts. So the Blow Off Valve is fitted somewhere between the turbo and the throttle to prevent this problem by giving an option of an escape route to vent the excess pressure. This saves the turbo from any possible problems. The stock BOV was never designed to handle high boost applications, so it will struggle to do it's job properly when the limits are exceeded. This puts the turbo at risk of failure and response drops. This is why we recommend to upgrade the BOV to a stronger type. Additionally, when the BOV is a vent to atmosphere type, this can cause other problems with the ECU not being able to read correct air volume that is flowing into the engine. As the volume of air still passes through the air flow meter but not all of if goes to the engine. In this case the air to fuel mixture will be incorrect. So we recommend the recirculation type design.

When you upgrade the camshafts to optimize the exhaust pressure, getting it right will help optimize the turbine wheel efficiency. Then you'll have to have the right exhaust manifold to optimize exhaust flow, your turbine will benefit more which will show in a sharper boost startup. However in the case of the EJ engine, the distant from the turbo to the exhaust port is quite far, so when the piping is made too large, response will drop. In addition, some models may require the oil pan to be modified to allow the equal length headers to allow fitment. In addition to this, depending on the factory setup of your model and the type of headers that you chose to use, the turbine distance to the exhaust port may be larger. This will affect the response. With the EXPREME exhaust manifold design the exhaust backpressure will be improved to give you an easier and sharper turbine spool.

The standard outlet is together with the front pipe and the catalytic converter, and the stock design hinders exhaust flow. The design of the factory standard model restricts the performance potential of the engine to suit emission standards. Especially at higher engine speeds with high boost, the turbine suffers from restricted exhaust flow which will cause problems with controlling boost levels. With properly designed headers and exhaust piping, more potential can be extracted from the engine with a larger metal catalytic converter. Boost conditions will remain stable and controllable, the Turbine will also deliver good response

With the increase of horse power, the increase in combustion temperatures and this will be a risk of the plugs from melting. The recommended plug heat range of 8-9 is suitable.
